Redesigned 2023 Colorado with Enhanced Power and Capability

Chevrolet redesigned the 2023 Colorado with new performance features and impressive towing capabilities. Drivers looking for a reliable and capable midsize pickup truck will have several unique options in the 2023 Colorado as Chevrolet engineered several trims ideal for work, daily driving, and off-roading fun.

Three Specially-Tuned Engine Choices

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado features three updated powertrain options. After seeing how effective the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine was in the full-size Silverado 1500 pickup truck, Chevrolet made the engine standard in all Colorado trims. Chevrolet then tuned the engine for different performance features.

The 2.7L Turbo engine is standard in the WT (Work Truck) and LT trims. The base engine can tow 3,500 thanks to 259 lb-ft of torque, standard rear-wheel drive, and 237 horsepower. The mid-level engine is the 2.7L Turbo Plus with 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This engine tows 7,700 pounds and is standard on the Z71 and Trail Boss trims. The 2.7L four-cylinder engine tows more than the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado with 7,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Finally, drivers can choose the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine in the ZR2 trim. This engine has 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Despite the higher torque, the High-Output engine maxes out with 7,700 pounds of towing capacity. The High-Output engine is designed for off-roading, while the Turbo Plus is built for towing and daily driving.

Performance-Enhancing Features

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado comes in several trim levels with different exterior and interior engineering features. The WT, LT, and Z71 trims have a standard chassis built for comfortable driving on pavement. The Trail Boss trim comes with a two-inch lift and ultra-wide stance for off-roading on trails. Chevy outfits the Colorado ZR2 with a three-inch factory lift and a wide stance for rock crawling and desert driving.

Once drivers climb into the Colorado, they’ll notice the center console and the drive-mode knob. The modes allow drivers to adjust the automatic transmission, fuel economy, and throttle response in Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, Baja, and Normal modes.

Chevrolet introduces the Desert Boss Package for the 2023 model ZR2 trim. With this trim, the Colorado gets 17-inch Beadlock-capable wheels with 33-inch tires, DSSV dampers, an off-road bumper with a brush guard, a roof-mounted light bar, and an underbody camera. The Desert Boss stands out from the crowd with unique decals and emblems atop limited edition paint colors.
